Spaces to create and appreciate art
Calvin’s campus hosts thousands of visitors each year for films, lectures, popular music concerts, orchestra concerts and art exhibitions. Beautiful art galleries, concert halls and theaters are the perfect backdrops for everything Calvin has to offer in the arts.
Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium
The Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium is Calvin's main performance hall. The Covenant Fine Arts Center is also an academic building, home to two academic departments and several classrooms.
Covenant Fine Arts Center Recital Hall
Calvin's Recital Hall is a performance venue that serves many purposes, from concerts and music performances to film showings and public lectures.
Center Art Gallery
In addition to work by Calvin College students, faculty and alumni, the Center Art Gallery features exhibits by secular and religious artists of note. A variety of exhibitions are created and selected each year to educate and foster dialogue.
The 322-seat Gezon Auditorium is located adjacent to the main entrance of the Spoelhof Center, near the Admissions office and Spoelhof atrium. It is the main performance space for theatre at Calvin.
The Lab Theater is located one level below the Gezon Auditorium lobby. It is used primarily for set design and experimental theater productions.
The gymnasium in the Hoogenboom Health and Recreation Center is used for large concerts and events. Recent concerts in this space include Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson and the Decemberists.
Van Noord Arena
The Van Noord Arena is used for Calvin’s largest events and concerts.
Bytwerk Video Theater
The Bytwerk Video Theater is a 150-seat, barrier-free venue for viewing student and professional productions.
The chapel is used for worship services and concerts.
The Cave Café gives students a chance to become involved in music: either playing, listening or working on technical aspects. Plus, you can enjoy all this over a cup of coffee and fellowship.
