Among all Christian colleges and universities in North America, Calvin is the only one with an Asian studies program of its scope and size. Asian studies at Calvin prepares you to follow God's calling to be his hands and feet to an increasingly important area of the world.
Gain a fuller perspective of Asian culture through progressive language instruction in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Through your courses, you will take part in in-depth study of the histories, religious traditions, philosophical schools, economics, politics, and fine arts of Asia. Apply your studies in a new way through a variety of off-campus programs offered throughout the year. Explore opportunities to teach abroad and other ways to apply your Asian studies degree in your future.
As part of earning an Asian studies major or minor, you’ll select one of three Asian languages to study: Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. If you plan to study one of these languages, you have the option of pursuing them independently, or incorporating your language studies into a comprehensive Asian studies degree.
